Delbert J. Kaska

CADOTT ― Delbert J. Kaska, 72, of 256 E. Oak Street, Cadott, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at his home.

He was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Cudahy, the son of James and Elizabeth (Kintler) Kaska. He grew up at the Pike Lake Resort in the town of Colburn and graduated from Cadott High School in 1947. He attended McPhale School of Music in Minnesota. Following music school he entered the U.S. Army in December 1950 where he performed in the military band for two years. Delly returned home to own and operate Pike Lake Resort for many years and also worked at Presto Industries in Eau Claire for many years.

Delbert married Lois E. Patton on July 12, 1955, in Eau Claire.

He campaigned with President John F. Kennedy in 1960.

Delly, Lois and family moved to the village of Cadott in 1968 where he resided until his passing.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Cadott; two sons, Dennis (Tammy) Kaska of Sheldon and Jim (Tammy Kane) Kaska of Cadott; one daughter, Lynn (Kevin) Kuehni of Cadott; one sister, Mavis "Mickie" Dresel of Muldraugh, Ky.; grandchildren, Mike and Karissa Decker, Jimmy and Bobby Kaska and Terry Kaska; eight stepgrandchildren; three great stepgrandchildren; nephews, Daniel and Dean Dresel; niece, Denise Stark; cousin, Pat Hrdlicka; and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jacqueline Jo Kaska; Uncle Joey Kintler and Uncle Matt and Aunt Helen Turecek; brother-in-law, Bob Dresel; and several other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Leiser Funeral Home, Cadott, with the Rev. Raymond Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery, town of Arthur, with military rites conducted by the Cadott American Legion and VFW.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at Leiser Funeral Home, Cadott, and one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Delly performed in numerous old time bands including the Jolly 6 Orchestra (where he met Lois), Ernie Wreck Orchestra on the weekly Dairyland Jubilee T.V. Show, Frank Switzer Band, Bloomer Dutchman Band and numerous other bands. He was an easy go lucky man with a very witty sense of humor. Delly's fun and loving personality will be greatly missed by all.

Pallbearers were Bill Chwala, Kenneth Dresel, Daniel Dresel, Peter Dugal, Maynard Vajgrt, and Donald Knitter.  The music was provided by Deb Dresel.

Friends called at Leiser Funeral Home on Friday, August 10, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. and also one hour before the service Saturday at the Leiser Funeral Home.
