Mrs. Joseph Straka
Called By Death

Mrs. Joseph Straka, aged 51, of the town of Arthur passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital at 8:25 last Thursday evening.  Mrs. Straka's sudden death came as a shock to her husband and wide circle of neighbors and friends in the community.  She underwent an operation a week before her death and though she rallied, she suffered a setback which caused her death.

Irma Patten was born in Edson on September 14, 1895, the daughter of the late David and Hattie Patten.  She was married to Joseph Straka, June 28, 1919, at Stanley.  She was a graduate of the Boyd High School with the class of 1912.  She attended the Eau Claire Teachers College and taught in various schools of the county six years before her marriage.  She was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Lodge.

Mrs. Straka is survived by her husband, ten sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Ray McFlory of Havre, Mont., Miss Mamie Patten of Edson, Mrs. Lula Shilts of Wilson, Mrs. Geo. Yeager of Boyd, Mrs. Herman Dunke of New Auburn, Mrs. John Huff of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Fred Stoll of Cornell, David and Arthur of Cornell, Mrs. Noel Diamond of Cornell, Mrs. Ruby Patten of Eau Claire, Earl Patten of Edson, Glen Patten of Cornell, Mrs. John Deery of Detroit.  Also surviving are one aunt, Mrs. Maggie Caron of Boyd and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the residence and services at 1:30 o'clock in the Drywood Methodist Church with Rev. Alexander McEathron of Holcombe and Rev. Summers of Eau Claire officiating.  Interment was made in the Bohemian Cemetery in Crescent.
