Donald James "Donny" Naiberg, son of Fred Naiberg and Rachel Lancor, was born August 8 1921 in Cornell, Wisconsin.1 He was baptized December 18 1932 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boyd, Wisconsin.2 Donald graduated from the Excelsior Country School in 1936 and the Boyd High School May 24 1940. He played the trumpet in the school band and was named valedictorian of his senior class. After high school, Donald was a member of a small band that played at local dance halls. Donald married Evelyn Zimmerman June 12 1945.

For many years, Donald repaired televisions and performed electrical wiring at neighborhood homes and farms as additional sources of income. He was also an apiarist (beekeeper), having as many as 20 hives of bees at the end of a season.

On a cold and snowy January day in 1966, the 4th to be exact, Donny met with misfortune. While working from a ladder on an electrical pole at the Delmar Cheese Factory, Donny slipped and fell 20 feet, fracturing his pelvis. After a nine-day stay in the hospital and many months of rehabilitation, Donny fully recovered from the accident. During his recovery, Ma and the kids kept the farm operating, performing the day-to-day chores as well as spring planting.

Donald retired in 1985. He remained active during his retirement, enjoying hobbies of fishing, woodworking and rock collecting, until his infliction with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in the fall of 1990. Donald became a resident of the Victory Memorial Nursing Home in February 1991. He died May 11 1991 at the Victory Memorial Nursing Home, Stanley, Wisconsin after 69 years, 9 months and 3 days of life. Donald's obituary appeared in the Thursday, May 16 1991 edition of the Cadott Sentinel. Funeral services were held May 15 1991 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Boyd, with Father Arthur Redmond officiating. He was laid to rest May 15 1991 in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Boyd, Wisconsin.
