Elizabeth Jane "Bessie" Van Horn, daughter of William Van Horn and Mary Smith, was born March 13 1875 in Rome, Ohio. Bessie was a school teacher. She married Alexander Mitchell Lancor July 1 1893. Bessie died March 16 1931 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, Wisconsin after 56 years and 3 days of life.1 The cause of death was cholecystitis (inflammation of the gall bladder), empyema of the gall bladder, hepatitis, and secondary pneumonia. Bessie's obituary appeared in the Friday, March 20 1931 edition of the Stanley Republican (page 6). Funeral services were held March 19 1931 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boyd, Wisconsin with Rev. Joseph Colling officiating. She was laid to rest March 19 1931 in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Boyd, Wisconsin.
Bessie was hospitalized for surgical removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) March 9 1931 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.1
