Evelyn went in peace to be with her savior in heaven on Wednesday evening,

battle with pancreatic cancer. Her life on this earth ended after 80 years,
5 months and 25 days. Evelyn's obituary appeared in the Thursday, June 17 2004 edition of the Chippewa Herald. Funeral services were held June 19 2004 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cadott, with Father Don Bauer officiating. She was laid to rest June 19 2004 in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Boyd, Wisconsin.

Ma was a Foster Grandparent at the Cadott Elementary School for 11 years (1993-2004). Foster Grandparents serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth with special needs. They provide 20 hours of weekly volunteer service through community organizations such as schools, hospitals, child care centers, Head Start programs and residential programs. Foster Grandparents delight in having a purpose to each day. They have the chance to join other community members in worthwhile activities that improve the lives of children. In so doing, they discover opportunities for friendship, education and satisfaction. Foster Grandparents receive $2.65 an hour (tax free), reimbursement for transportation, meals during service, annual physical examinations, and accident and liability insurance while on duty.
The following was written by Cousin Lois shortly after Ma’s death: “I am very touched by your Mother's years of service as an Elementary Foster Grandparent to the Cadott School District. It is such a fine gift to give to our young people. They need all the tender loving care and teachings they can get. So many don't have a positive older grandparent type person in their lives. I'm very grateful she shared her life with them and I'm sure the rewards they gave her were priceless.”
