Joseph J. "Joe" Wellner, son of John Wellner Sr. and Magdalene Muench, was born Jan 4 1882 in the Town of Edson, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. It is said that Joseph was injured by a team of runaway horses and never fully recovered. He died Feb 20 1912 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin after 30 years, 1 month and 16 days of life. The cause of death was Bright's Disease. Joseph's death notice appeared in the Saturday, Feb 24, 1912 edition of the Stanley Republican (Boyd Correspondence column). He was laid to rest Feb 23 1912 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Town of Edson, Chippewa County, Wisconsin.
In 1910, Joseph was living with the Muenzel Family in the Town of Edson, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. His marital status was recorded as "bachelor" with an occupation of "farmer".42
