Josephine "Josie" Roshell, daughter of Joseph Rousar Sr. and Franziska Novotny, was born Josepha Rousar July 16 1875 aboard the steamer S.S. Pommerania while her parents were en route to the United States.1 She was baptized May 29 1876 in Quarry, Iowa by H. W. Tiemeier, Evangelical Lutheran Pastor, Toledo, Iowa. She married Frank Naiberg December 17 1892 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Josephine died June 29 1940 at her home in the Town of Goetz, Chippewa County, Wisconsin after 64 years, 11 months and 13 days of life.2 The cause of death was repeated cerebral thrombosis (stroke) caused by arteriosclerosis. Josephine's obituary appeared in the Friday, July 5 1940 edition of the Cadott Sentinel. Funeral services were held July 2 1940 at the farm home with Rev. Gaylord officiating. She was laid to rest July 2 1940 in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Town of Arthur, Chippewa County, Wisconsin.3
