Mary Rachel Smith, daughter of James P. Smith and Elizabeth Ewing, was born February 6 1853 in Lucas County, Ohio. She married William Van Horn February 23 1874 in Richland County, Ohio. Mary died Septempber 16 1911 in Ludington Township, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin after 58 years, 7 months and 10 days of life. The cause of death was apoplexy.1 She was laid to rest in the Cadott Brooklawn Cemetery, Cadott, Wisconsin.
