Rachel Matilda "Pete" Lancor, daughter of Alexander Lancor and Elizabeth Van Horn, was born September 21 1900 in Cadott, Wisconsin. She married Fred Naiberg September 28 1920 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Rachel died May 3 1984 at the Victory Memorial Nursing Home, Stanley, Wisconsin after 83 years, 7 months and 12 days of life. She entered the nursing home in 1982. The cause of death was natural causes. Rachel's obituary appeared in the Thursday, May 10 1984 edition of the Stanley Republican. Funeral services were held May 7 1984 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cadott, Wisconsin with Rev. Thomas Crowley officiating. She was laid to rest May 7 1984 in the Cadott Brooklawn Cemetery, Cadott, Wisconsin.
When Rachel was a little girl, she followed her father everywhere as he went about his work. She showed such an interest in the out-of-doors and boyish activities that her father nicknamed her "Pete". The nickname stuck, for many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew her as "Grandma Pete".
It is said that when Rachel and Esther Fitzgerald were children, they tried to burn down the Excelsior School. That's the one room schoolhouse that was down by the Yellow River bridge on County D. Rachel got caught handing red hot coals from the schoolhouse stove out the window to Esther, who was trying to light the school on fire. The schoolhouse did burn some time after that, however, they were not blamed for starting the fire.
