Mathew Zimmerman and Rosa Wellner were married May 12 1908 at Sacred Heart Church, Edson, Wisconsin, with Rev. Constantine Nau officiating. Their wedding announcement appeared in the Saturday, May 16, 1908 edition of the Stanley Republican (Prosperous Ridge Correspondence section). They had five children: John (b.1909), Catherine (b.1910), Arthur (b.1915), Evelyn (b.1923) and Clarence (b.1925).
Math and Rosa farmed in the Township of Edson until 1913, when they purchased an 80-acre dairy farm northeast of Boyd in the Town of Delmar.1 The farm was previously owned by William and Mary (Wellner) Haberle.2 Mary was Rosa's aunt. Math and Rosa operated the "Crescent View Farm" for 36 years. They bred and raised grade Holstein cattle, Poland China hogs, Rhode Island Red chickens, and Pekin ducks. In 1947, their son Clarence took over operation of the farm and Math and Rosa moved to a small farm northwest of Stanley.3 They purchased this land from Martha Perterson on November 21 1946.4
In 1910, Math and Rosa, with their son John, were farming in the Town of Edson, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. Mary, Mathew's mother, was living with them at the time.5
